Valuable tips and advice

I picked up this book right in the middle of my search for a summer
internship during my second year of law school. Because I'd already
found firms and landed a few interviews, I focused mostly on the
sections about interviewing. I found the book to be very valuable
with tips and insights on how to approach the whole interview process.
I really think most law students don't reach their full potential
because they don't prepare for their interviews. This book will help.
It helped me--I landed a very good job using the advice from the
book. I also loved the section that contained sample cover letters
and resumes--you think those are easy to write but they're not, and
this book has some great tips and samples to help in that process.
I would have liked to have seen more about networking and alternative
methods for getting jobs. Much of the book is focused on on-campus
interviews, and those are hard to come by for most law students. I
also didn't care for the chapter about applying for jobs as a 3L: I
know that you can get a good job this way, but I felt a sense of
hopelessness in this chapter, that if I didn't get a job as a 2L it
was pretty much over. Other than that, the book was great. I've read
a lot of law school prep books and books on interviewing at law firms
and this is one of the best.

Total Waste of Money

This book is absolutely useless. The information provided is not connected in any relevant way to the Series 7 test and does not give any more insight into 'thinking like a stockbroker' than would a copy of Barron's or the Economist. In fact, go buy the latest issue of Barron's, save $15, and get a lot more articles. You can feel almost immediately that this book was made simply to cash in on anxious Series 7 test takers. You do not need this book; it is an expensive and unnecessary way to acquaint yourself with information otherwise available.

Great Buy

This book is a great buy for anyone prepping for the LSAT. The courses are entirely too expensive and honestly not worth all that extra money. It can be assumed that anyone taking the LSAT seriously has the initiative to be able to study on their own. Therefore, this book is excellent. It breaks down each question type, offers feedback, etc. Most importantly, it offers repetitive practice, something invaluable for the LSAT. I highly recommend this book.

Waste of Time & Money

The Kaplan LSAT 2004 focuses primarily on general LSAT strategies which will raise most student's scores by 1-2 points only, and thats assuming you are completely unfamiliar with the test. For those serious students who are generally familiar with the LSAT and willing to work hard to improve their score Kaplan and the Princeton Review are a complete waste of time and money. In some cases, such as Kaplan's method of solving Reading Comprehension questions, they are even counterproductive and can slow you down. Most students will emerge after studying the Kaplan book feeling confused and still unprepared, as I did. I strongly recommend the PowerScore books. I purchased the PowerScore LSAT Logic Games Bible and I am now able to work almost any logic game the LSAT can throw at me with confidence. I have also just ordered the newly released PowerScore LSAT Logical Reasoning Bible. Both of these books are expensive, they will run you about $90-$100 total but from my experience they are definitly worth it.
